Green Business in Victoria

Green Transport

Green Transport

We are keen to promote all methods of green travel, be it walking and cycling to work or through providing dedicated travel planning support.

Transport for London and the Victoria BID invite you to enhance your business with the new Barclays Cycle Superhighways. As part of the Barclays Cycle Superhighways Work Place Scheme, Transport for London will help your business to enable staff to cycle to and from work.

Employees who cycle:

  • Are healthier and take fewer sick days
  • Are less likely to be delayed getting to work
  • Arrive more alert and ready to work.

What are Barclays Cycle Superhighways?

Barclays Cycle Superhighways are new cycle lanes that run into central London from outer London to provide cyclists with safer, faster and more direct journeys into the city – perfect for your staff to use for their commute to work! Using the Superhighways for business trips also means reduced costs associated with business travel.

What is available to my business as part of the scheme?

Once your business has completed the confirmation process below it will be eligible for:
  • Free cycle storage*
  • Free cycle commuter training for employees to improve their skills, safety and confidence.
  • Free cycle maintenance sessions to get your employee’s bicycles back on the road. These will be held at or close to your business, so that staff are able to get their bikes repaired to be safe to use on the road.
  • An events calendar so your business can take part in London, national and international cycling events.
  • Free help with promoting cycling and safety to your staff.

* The business will be responsible for installation.

Is Your Business Eligible?

In order for your business to take part it will need to:
  • Be located within 1.5km of the two new pilot routes
  • Have a minimum of 50 employees
  • Not have a planning application to provide cycle facilities or develop a travel plan since April 2008.

What to do next?

Step 1: Visit
Complete the registration form for the Barclays Cycle Superhighways Workplace Scheme at:

Step 2: Complete
Fill in the legal declaration. This will be sent through once TfL has received your registration form and will enable TfL to allocate funding to your business.

Step 3: Find
Find out how your staff currently travel and how many are interested in cycling to work through our quick online survey.

Step 4: Choose
You will be allocated credits so you can choose the right products and services for your business. The number of credits available per business per site range from £1,000 to £10,000 depending on the number of employees at the site.

Step 5: Monitor
Keep a record of your progress. In a year’s time the team will ask you to re-survey your staff to see if cycling has increased in your business. At this point you could be eligible for more funding and cycling support through other Transport for London initiatives.

* The business will be responsible for installation.
